I fell in love with Biblical Poetics , Narrative Criticism, and Literary Analysis during my time studying in SAIACS. You will find this love sprinkled all over my writings. In fact, my thesis at SAIACS was debated and in some ways criticized because of my reliance on these forms of criticism. I loved every part of it, so criticisms are fine because I know I did the text justice.
Self-Worth in Scripture
To be honest, the Self-Worth journey began when I was agnostic. My NGO, Hope Torch (www.hopetorch.org) has been discovering self-worth for over a decade now. Along the way, theology overflowed and I would have many debates on God's role and perspective in Self-Worth. These devotionals are merely a deep dive into the scriptural foundations of the conversations I've had with my employees.
Convergenism
After almost ten years of being agnostic, God brought me back to him through my experiences in India and seeing a different side of faith in other religions and even Christianity. The religion of our youth has no perspective. These "devotionals" are not necessarily focused on Scripture, but on the writings that described my increasing perspective of God as he revealed himself to me.
Function of Church & Community
Religion tries to force a certain form. However, I believe that we are here for a purpose not a form. We provide a function in revealing God's glory. In the same way, the church and the community of believers are the aggregate of this function. Forms keep changing over the centuries, there is no stopping that and even less evidence that God desires us to prevent this evolution. However, the function remains the same. These devotionals stem from the research connected with my thesis which was a study of the function that church and community was meant to provide regardless of form.
